With the Dead Space remake on the horizon, I figured now was a good time to come back to the Wii rail shooter spinoff game. Please make a Dead Space Extraction VR port.

  1. So fun thing I'd noticed is that dead space 2 got a HD frames update of recent. Would advice anyone who has a xbox s or xs to defiantly give it another play.

  2. Lol Dresden Makeover.

I'd like to get this but EA have been on my boycott list since the Mass Effect 3 debacle which threw out the whole "your choices across the trilogy will affect the ending" in favour of "what colour explosion would you like?" On one hand it's giving EA money but on the other pirating means I don't get to give the actual developers their more-than-earned compensation. Conundrum.

  3. Knowing nothing of the new game being made, I look forward to seeing the genderfluid POC they’ve designed as the new protagonist. Oh, and also learning their Space Pronouns!

  4. "Its like a space station 13 round gone wrong."

so……every round of space station 13?

  5. I remember playing this on the Wii with my little sister when it came out. It was really refreshing to have an on rail shooter that didn't run on quarters.

  6. I'm starting to think canonically the pulse rifle just has a tonne of different configurations for military application.

  7. I still have as physical copy of this. Its a great game!

  8. This actually looks really cool. Wish I got this instead of the House of the Dead ports (1&2 I think?).

  9. I play a fair amount of elite dangerous on VR, and a rail shooter would be a motion sickness simulator. Unless you're the kind of person who can read while riding in a car, you wouldn't be able to play it without building up a resistance first.

  10. I for one am glad they went the reboot route instead of a plain remake or remaster. With Dead Space 3, Visceral kind of wrote themselves into a corner, and a bad one to boot (though I can't fault them, considering the amount of publisher-meddling they were experiencing…), so maybe if the reboot is successful they can actually take the story in an interesting new direction.
I know it's still EA behind the scenes, but from what I've seen, the people at Motive really did seem to be fans of the original game, and the few changes they've shown steer me towards being optimistic. Plus the original series had come such a long way by the time DS3 came out, that they have a lot of lore to guide them, and if they are half-smart they won't stray too far away from the source material, at least for the first game.

All in all, I'm happy. This way at least the franchise gets a second chance at life, sure beats being dead in a ditch to me. After all it's not like they are erasing the original trilogy from history, so we'll always have that at least.

  11. I will never be upset over a late Halloween video.

  12. The part where you added in frustrated audio cues of you trying to grab ammo during the story cutscene was pretty funny; had me laughing for a good while.

  13. Me: Ah, a trap!

Mandalore: Hm, a bonus enemy encounter.

  14. To be honest, I still hope for a Dante’s Inferno remake, and the Anime was lit IMO

  15. I can officially say that I beat Mandalore Gaming to a Dead Space video in October

  16. Played thru all 3 games about 4 months ago. First DS visually holds just fine.
Main problem with first DS is it atrocious control scheme, considering that it was a port from console, with console controls translating very very very very poorly onto mouse+keyboard scheme. Luckily there is a mod that addresses problems with mouse controls, even tho it causes game breaking at two points during story(one being when you need to shut down asteroids with PD cannon, with script not resuming afterwards). But mod can be removed, getting thru troublesome part and reenabled again on next checkpoint.

  17. To be fair the Dante’s inferno anime is pretty good

  18. The guy at 16:50 sounds like Detective Halligan of Mystery of the Droods fame.

  19. I liked this on Wii. My interest didn't carry over to the main game series, though.

  20. SEE, I watch this whole video, but that last game makes me want to shoot a hole into the wall.

  21. That Blizzard ad in the first minute mark killed me! LMAO!

  22. This video was fantastic!
A very well written well edited review about something I didnt know I wanted to know!

  23. That intro was great. Lowry creeping in the back omg

  24. Dude that is the sickest intro you have shown us yet, sparkingames did amazing

  25. I kinda feel like Weller and McNeill’s stories were meant to be switched🤔

  26. I genuinely get confused at times why game designers, or publisher's or whatever don't trust their customer's to be able to pull off above basic gameplay in the modern age where they would have to put a new or prior muscle memory in step with another of the same… This could have been fantastic with WIi controls, if only they trusted the players to walk and aim at the same time with a system that on a function and technical level should blow a dual analogue controller out of the water and open up the gameplay to what were now just getting to in VR as far as player agency goes…

Then I remember the reaction to the wii remote from the people that were disgusted they might have to move there wrist's slightly and get used to something new briefly that would make them actually have to play the game instead of complex auto-scripting playing for you when you push a button.. like halo… or assassins creed 3(*) or well pretty much any modern console game these days, kinda incredible how much of that programing goes into making it seem like your helpin lol(**).

That the players who did embrace the suck to something that should have lead to something much better, get treated to (what I assume will be) Call of Duty SP's final form 15 years prior to it winning game of the year, cause pushing buttons and aiming is too complicated… to the base that do this with the game console as a controller while doing basic real world tasks n traversal (real world traversal is… walking? not sure on that, let me know)… seems kinda fuckin patronizing.

Mostly just kinda cheesed at the potential for the setup on this and how their's just no reason this shouldn't have blown the others out of the water if they had designed it as something other than 20 percent of a full 3d game… and they had the controls, the enthused playerbase that just being on a wii is a marker they are willing to try new things, specially back then… from the looks of it, the art direction, and certainly at the time if this hadn't been a joke to the publisher I'm sure visceral woulda stepped up just as a concept… like deadspace has very simple agency gameplay… woulda fit like a glove to try and break new ground back then with some tweaks.

Funny, now we get RE4 in VR… this could have been RE space with reasonable haircuts almost vr… (RESWH-AR) in the closest iteration to proper vr interaction that was on the consumer market and, nah…

I do wounder if I wouldn't be so butthurt if it wasn't such a yin and yang effort on gamers as a collective and the NFT super-spechh magical finance wizards (N S-S MFW) that use their disappointingly mailable cash cows to milk more and more for dumber and less… maybe if it wasn't so analogues to everything else in our Brave New World that at least in frivolous entertainment seems worse with the standards set outside of it… fuckin a. Like on paper, humans should not be this retarded or boring, Is SHODAN just blanking the slates so she can fill us with her brilliance, or are we just gonna get scrapped for power-bars with the rest of the insects swept up in the industrial microwave of ideocracy…

Yet if we don't take time to question, could end up like Job… question, but accept I suppose.

(*uhhhhgghh shudder* who the fuck though it was a good idea to remove all the interactivity in a platforming parkour game, from the platforming parkour component they had near mastered with the fantastic POP and prior ac games… fuck yall on that… fuck yall)

(**just watch some of the BHscenes stuff on halo's development, was a fantastic solution in 2001 to the genuine shit that was a direct control thumbsize joystick that as a joystick, resets while controlling a relative axis 2d camera in 3d… also it's thumbsized lol… Soooo, if bungie sucked a code, games might have better peripherals 20 years later… nah, they don't know any better, and game design crippling like this just re-enforces it…

I genuinely get confused at times why game designers, or publisher's or whatever don't trust their customer's to be able to pull off above basic gameplay in the modern age where they would have to put a new or prior muscle memory in step with another of the same… This could have been fantastic with WIi controls, if only they trusted the players to walk and aim at the same time with a system that on a function and technical level should blow a dual analogue controller out of the water and open up the gameplay to what were now just getting to in VR as far as player agency goes…)

  27. Man, Dead Space would make a great VR game.

  28. fun fact, there is a Men in Black on rails shooter that is pretty fun

  29. Also when Halo started off they did stuff like Halo Legends which is basically the Animatrix for people that like futurist human stories

  30. oh wow, the only dead space game i actually played, almost forgot it even existed.

  31. Ive learned that dead space is anti pilgrim from this video

  32. I played this with my mom, so it will always have a special place for me even though it's not the greatest.

  33. 1:20 James as "Big McLargehuge" is the best crossover reference nickname I've ever heard and as a big MST3K and Mass Effect fan, I'm angry at myself for not thinking of that before now. Well done, sir.
