Episode 45: WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It (PS2)

WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It (Exciting Pro Wrestling 3 in Japan) is a professional wrestling video game released on the PlayStation 2 console by THQ and developed by Yuke’s Future Media Creators. It was released in Europe on November 16, 2001, in the United States on November 19, 2001 and in Japan on January 24, 2002. The game is part of the WWF SmackDown! (later renamed WWE SmackDown vs. Raw, then WWE and now WWE 2K) series based on the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) professional wrestling promotion. It is also the sequel to WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role and was succeeded by WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth. This was the first game in the series to be featured on the PlayStation 2.

  1. Did you just praise the story mode? Even in 2001 is was trash

  2. “Caution, attention” wow that brings back memories

  3. Why isn't there analog stick control in this game? This isn't an early PS1 game! THIS IS PS2!!!

  4. By far one of my favorite video games ever made

  5. I'm agreeing with you on most things, but then there's other things I'm just like "it was 2001.." lol

  6. I remember the anticipation and excitement for getting ready to get and play this game and when I got the demo disc I was stunned at how unimpressive it was once the entrances started up for my 1st match. I started thinking that there would be no way the game would be this on release day?! So like the optimist I was I got the game and was very disappointed. I had beautiful games like tekken tag and ssx and I expected just bring it to be solid like those games in the graphics department. 19 years later and it is still sitting in my collection to be viewed at as a teachable moment to never be a fool again, especially if you play a demo of a game first. 😉

  7. It blows my mind how much progress they made from this game to Shut Your Mouth!

  8. The Just Bring It intro is the biggest catfish in gaming history!

  9. This looks like Smackdown know your role in PS1

  10. Caution…Attention..
This game takes up a little over half of a normal PS2 memory card's space
4000kbs/4mb out of a standard 8mb memory card wtf

  11. That commentary really is bad lmao. Idk what the hell they were thinking. I remember thinking that shit was amazing when I was a kid. Triple H! wOn ThE mAtCh!.

    The royal rumble part though.

"Let's get into some Royal rumble action"

    Christian morphs into John cena
    "Are you sure about that?"

Tosses you out of the ring

  12. The “lyrics” of this game’s theme music is amazing: “Everybody on the ground, Will Smith is selling crack!”

  13. For me most of the ps1 wwe games really sucked they where awful

  14. I like the Hell in the Cell we call it hell in the cage still pretty cool I think this should be a new normal cage all we did back then when I was 17.

  15. Always comparing PS1 and PS2 graphics because there's no entrance in PS1 Smack Down?
Think that the PS1 disk is only about 600 MB, while PS2 had DVD which have 4 GB of data.. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  16. Just bring it better than shut your mouth

  17. Where did the hardcore time limit matches go

  18. Watch the intro and though wow look at these graphics! Then the in game graphics were crap in comparison

  19. I read that fred Durst let the undertaker use the song as long as they put him in a video game. I 4got where I heard that from

  20. You forgot to mention smackdown just bring it went to 8 men in the ring at once when no your role was limited to only 4 men in the ring at once and I believe this is also the first wrestling game since monday night raw to feature a real referee

  21. You talked up the story mode?! Way to leave out the part that it’s only 3 matches long……

  22. You can do 8 men matches in this game.
Something that we wouldn't get until the 2K games on PS4/XBOX ONE.

  23. The intro to this game looks better than current gen games! When this game came out and me and my friend first booted up the game and saw that intro we were super hyped and what let down the game was from seeing that!

  24. The backstage area was the funniest part of this game.

Perry Saturn……is the most dangerous man in the world wrestling federation 😆

  26. This game wasn't the best but it was pretty decent to say the less i still this game on PS2, I'm a Tajiri main

  27. I just got a new ps2 controller so I'm gonna play this tonight. After I watch this again cuz I have a short memory that gets shorter the older I get💪👺

  28. DUDE… you should switch your indicator to "auto". That way it'll switch to the last person that hit you.

  29. This is really a fun game to play. I really do not get the hate. For anybody wanting a fun game to play, this is a fun one to play. I could be nostalgic, but this was my first ps2 game.

  30. Like others have said, did you actually play through the story mode? It's 3 matches long!

  31. I'm confused how you completely shat on the first two smackdowns but had mainly praise for this game lol

  32. WWF Smackdown Just Bring It! Had some of, if not the biggest and best backstage places.

  33. If I was to create a WWE Game that adds something from all 5 I would add this:
Just Bring It! Entrances with Howard Finkel Annoucing the Wrestlers from Just Bring It!
    Backstage: Just Bring It!
    Season Mode: Shut Your Mouth
Roster: All 5, with different attires for each wrestler that appeared more than once
    Match Types: In all 5
    Expand fighting in the crowd
Keep the 8 men in the ring from Just Bring It!
Add Michael Cole and Tazz on Commentary, just for the fun of it.
Arena's: add all of the arena's in all 5 of the games
Add the in-game Raw and Smackdown intro
    That's pretty much it.

  34. Oh please. You know that intro is the biggest lie in videogame history by a longshot. They made the intro look like today's graphics. The actual game itself doesn't look anywhere near that good. It looks like the average early PS2 game. BIGGEST….LIE….EVER

  35. My friend Christian and I loved the awful commentary. I created X-Pac in this game and made it so that Taz and Michael Cole called him that in their commentary. However, their pronunciation of 'X-Pac' always sounded weirdly guttural to us. Instead of saying 'X-Pac', they would go 'EXXHHH-PACCHHH!' This is something we would would always impersonate as kids with each impression being more exaggerated than the last. By a certain point, we were just hacking up our lungs!

  36. I remember being highly shocked and disappointed that the Invasion angle with the WCW/ECW talent wasn't in the game. I felt this game was a step down from Know Your Role. Know Your Role was much more enjoyable gameplay wise. JBI felt clunky at times due to the game having so much memory space on it. The music played during the ending credits when you finish storyline mode is awesome though. The music makes you emotional almost.
